Jackson River Community Credit Union was founded in 1953 for the employees of Westvaco. Since the credit union’s founding, membership has gone through several changes and much growth.
Currently, there are 17 employees handling our teller line, member services, loan offices, Bookkeeping, and management. The board of directors consists of 7 board members.
With growth planned in the coming years we’ll continue to keep our members top priority.

We provide a full range of financial services at very competitive rates and useful information to help our members in all of their financial endeavors.
Access to Low-Cost Financial Services
Founded on the basic democratic premise of the cooperative movement, credit unions believe that access to low-cost financial services is critical to the health and stability of ordinary citizens. In fact, nearly 80 million Americans trust their credit union to provide the services to improve their financial well being. Credit union membership offers many benefits. Services offered range from simple savings to home equity loans to IRAs. Credit unions strive to deliver the best service possible to their most important assets--their members.
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Local Credit Union for Local Residents.
The credit union's field of membership shall be limited to persons who live, work, worship or attend school in, businesses and other legal entities, located in Alleghany and Bath Counties and the independent City of Covington, VA.
